Separating strong magnetic metals

Magnetic separators remove ferromagnetic parts such as iron and steel from waste flows intended for recycling.

We have a variety of magnet systems, each of which serves its own unique purpose in terms of:
- capacity
- particle size
- particle shape
- purity ferrous fraction
- layer thickness to be processed
- product flow humidity

Separation of weakly magnetic metals

We also make magnetic separators for removing weakly magnetic metals, such as stainless steel and other steel alloys from waste flows.

High gradient magnet systems make an excellent job of this. They remove or separate:

- stainless steel rings, springs and balls from shredded plastic bottles with a pump mechanism
- small metal particles from soil contaminants, soil or stones
- smashed pieces of stainless steel from wood recycling processes to protect shredding blades
- pieces of stainless steel from shredded WEEE and ASR fractions
- iron dust from ceramics or blasting grit
- pieces of stainless steel from cable shredder flows before the copper shredder processing step
- stainless steel needles from plastic hospital syringes.

Separation of non-ferrous metals

Eddy current non-ferro separators separate non-ferro metals such as aluminium and copper from bulk flows. Many times, we use a combination of these separators, one after the other.

This is because, in terms of particle size, the fraction must lie within a certain bandwidth in order for the process to produce sufficient yield. A good breakdown is: very fine fraction 0-5 mm, fine fraction 5-20 mm, medium fraction 20-80 mm and coarse fraction >80 mm.
