Goudsmit now has four HDN-certified welders

Hygienic welding of products is important, especially in the food industry. This is not something every welder can do, As it requires special training. We are proud to announce that four of our welders – Bram, Ben, Marlon and Matthew – have all passed the HDN exam. HDN stands for ‘Hygienic Design Network’

and is a collaborative partnership of companies in the food industry, ranging from component suppliers and system integrators to food manufacturers. Goudsmit is a member of the HDN, as are some of our suppliers and big customers in the food industry.

European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED)

To pass this exam the welders had to complete theory and practical tests, and all the welds had to pass the X-ray tests for the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). With their HDN certification they may weld hygienic systems and are also certified to weld pressure equipment.

The goal of HDN is to prevent problems concerning the production of food products at the end of the production line. The industry realized that the only way to achieve this was to involve every company in the supply chain. The HDN method provides a uniform interpretation of standards and requirements. It also offers a practical approach to meeting the requirements. The quality is guaranteed through a certification system for designers, engineers, welders and inspectors. Congratulations Bram, Ben, Marlon and Matthew!
