Recycling

The recovery of metals from waste substances (for reuse, among other purposes) is becoming increasingly important. Raw materials are becoming scarcer and the costs of dumping waste continue to rise. This results in increased market demand for the recycling of metals from waste. Goudsmit has developed many separators that can filter out metal particles. These are often very valuable metals, which often makes the payback period very short.
Moreover, waste products are made suitable for reuse. Consider Green Deal and Urban Mining or e-waste recycling, for example – the trend for the future.

Magnetic filters/-separators, Eddy Current (non-ferro) separators and I-sens sensor separators are used for purposes such as the recycling of and metal elimination from:

  • construction and demolition debris

  • scrap
  • incinerator slags
  • paper

  • tyres
non ferro separator

Magnetic separators recycle ferromagnetic particles such as iron and steel as well as weakly magnetic metals such as machined stainless steel. Eddy current non-ferro separators and sensor separators separate non-ferro metals such as aluminium and copper from bulk flows. In many cases several separators are combined by placing them in a cascade arrangement. This is because, in terms of particle size, the fraction must lie within a certain bandwidth in order for the process to produce sufficient yield. A good breakdown is: very fine fraction 0-5 mm, fine fraction 5-20 mm, medium fraction 20-80 mm and coarse fraction >80 mm.

Magnetic separators for the recycling industry are constructed very robustly, which allows them provide outstanding performance under even the most demanding conditions. Recycling separators fall under the VAMIL/MIA scheme (Dutch tax relief schemes for environmentally friendly investment).
