Magnets simplify metalworking processes such as machining, welding, polishing, grinding and coating. They also contribute to a better quality of the finished product. A few examples include:
Securing or fixing a workpiece for grinding or polishing. Switchable magnetic chuck plates have been developed for this purpose, but also complete timing belts that guide the work piece through the machine.
Magnets separate metal from steel grit and ceramic grit, so that there are no metal contaminants in the stainless steel.
When a work piece itself has become magnetic after mechanical processing, it will attract iron dust. When it is time to coat the work piece at a later stage, this will lead to poor adhesion. Iron and undesired magnetism cause problems during welding also.
We can remove residual magnetism using demagnetization equipment. We do this also as a service, at your premises.

For picking up, transporting and separating sheet metal
Goudsmit has developed various magnet systems for handling sheet steel. Like magnetic grippers, for quick and easy pick-up and movement of sheet steel.
Timing belt magnets provide a quick an accurate way of transporting steel sheets into a press.
Steel sheets can be very difficult to pick up and handle when they are coated with a film of oil and stick to each other. Magnetic sheet separators separate stacked steel plates, allowing them to be picked up one by one. Doing so helps avoid many problems during production.

For picking up steel shafts or objects, we have developed handling magnets that can be switched on and off manually or by means of pneumatic control.

They serve to pick up cans or jars for packaging - palletizing and depalletizing.
And magnets orient elongated products like nails and screws, keeping the packaging compact.

Shipyards & Steel production
At shipyards, there is a frequent need to move large, extremely thick plates of steel.
Lifting magnets are an ideal solution. You can easily position them and engage and disengage them. With electromagnetic lifters, it can even be done without an operator.
During the production of steel, electromagnetic lifters ensure a safe 'handling' process. They lift up large rolls of steel sheets, for example. These are difficult to pick up, but with lifting magnets the job is made quick and easy.
Magnets are very useful not only for steel handling, but also production. Electro overband magnets remove pieces of iron from cokes or coals before they go into the furnaces.
Magnetic filters keep the lubricating oil iron-free during production.
Cans & canning
When it comes to the production of canned foods & tin packaging, and filling them, a magnetic conveyor is invaluable.
Magnetic palletizers keep tins or aerosol cans in place or convey them vertically upwards when the production process requires it.
Magnetic palletizers are also used in packaging lines to palletize and pack canned foods or glass jars with steel lids.
