Magnets for recycling & sorting

The recovery of metals from flows of waste or raw material is becoming increasingly important. Raw materials are becoming scarcer and the costs of waste disposal continue to rise. Governments are seeking to reduce the environmental burden too, by promoting and subsidizing recycling initiatives for example.

This results in increased market demand for the recycling of metals from waste. Goudsmit has developed many separators that can pick out pieces of metal. These are often very valuable metals, which often makes the payback period very short.
In this way waste products are made reusable for new applications. Examples include Green Deals, Urban Mining, E-Waste recycling and the EU Waste Directive 2008/98/EC; the trends for the future!

Goudsmit's recycling magnets separate;ferromagnetic parts such as iron, steel and weakly magnetic metals such as machined stainless steel, but also non-ferromagnetic parts, such as: aluminum, copper, zinc, gold, silver, magnesium etc.

Separation/recovery of ferrous metals:

Goudsmit has a wide selection of overbelt and suspension magnets that stand out in terms of their service life, robust construction, magnetic force and magnetic field depth.

For product flows with sharp pieces of metal – which makes a belt conveyor a poor choice – Goudsmit has drum magnets, including special versions for handling scrap metal. These feature extra-robust construction, which results in a nearly maintenance-free, durable solution. When there is little space available for installation, head roller magnets are the best solution for removing ferrous metals from a bulk or other product flow. These are available in various sizes, with various magnetic systems, so we always have the right solution for your product flow. Separation/recovery of non-ferrous metals:

Eddy current and sensor separators sort non-ferrous metals, such as aluminium and copper from primary and/or secondary raw material flows. Many times we employ a combination of these separators, one after the other. This is because, in terms of particle size, the fraction must lie within a certain bandwidth to achieve the best separation yield.

Through the use of advanced magnet simulations, Goudsmit has developed the optimal magnetic system for every fraction distribution. By strategically placing these in the process line you can efficiently achieve optimal recovery of valuable metals. Elimination of impurities from product flows:

Magnetic separators are also often used for elimination of impurities and removal of undesirable ferrous and non-ferrous metal from bulk and other product flows. A good example is shredded plastic pump bottles that contain steel or stainless steel balls and springs in the pump mechanism: to obtain a pure, reusable plastic flow these undesirable pieces must all be removed.
