IATF 16949

The IATF 16949 automotive quality certificate held by Goudsmit Magnetic Supplies, in combination with our advanced measuring equipment, is your guarantee that every aspect of our magnets meets quality and safety requirements.

Magnets used in high-tech systems require the application of the highest standards of quality and safety. That is why it is important that suppliers continuously focus on the standards and requirements associated with technological advancements.

IATF 16949 was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) in collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The IATF consists of an international group of major motor vehicle manufacturers.

Together, they establish the quality requirements for the design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products - Tier 1.

ISO14001

Goudsmit Magnetics pursues an appropriate environmental policy in accordance with international standards and manages, reduces or eliminates environmental risks. By achieving ISO14001 certification, we demonstrate that we meet all the requirements of this standard.

You can find our accredited ISO14001 certificate here.

Together, we are working towards creating a better environment. That is why we also set requirements for our suppliers. The products we produce and supply must comply with sustainability.

We strive to continuously improve environmental performance and therefore to continuously meet the ISO14001 standard. This applies to all aspects of the company, such as products, internal processes, suppliers and performance.

For example, we have taken the following measures to improve the environment:

  • all lighting is LED;
  • adjustment of extraction to prevent air pollution;
  • using and reusing packaging that is better for the environment;
  • better management and separation of waste;
  • reducing CO2 emissions by using electric cars in our fleet;
  • reducing CO2 emissions by travelling by train or car as much as possible instead of flying;
  • our suppliers are assessed and reconsidered according to ISO14001 standards.

ATEX, IECEx certificate

Goudsmit delivers ATEX and IECEx certified magnets and magnet systems.

Magnet systems are often placed in spaces where dust explosions can occur. It goes without saying that the magnet system itself must not be an ignition source.

Working in an explosive environment therefore requires strict guidelines and measures. It is not only equipment and products that must be compliant. Employees must also know how to work safely in explosion risk zones.

ATEX and IECEx are quality certificates for equipment manufacturers and users. Knowing how hazardous situations arise and excluding them by checking whether products, equipment, the working environment and employees meet the set requirements.

We are experts in electro-technical explosion protection. Our magnet systems are ATEX certified.

An externally certified quality assurance system is required for manufacturers of ATEX equipment.

Goudsmit is one of the few companies in the magnet industry to possess the IECEx certification.

Mechanical sparks and dust explosions
Detecting and removing metal contaminants prevents mechanical sparks from causing dust explosions. We make this possible with our magnetic separators for bulk goods.

HDN / PED welding certificate

Goudsmit is a member of the HDN, like some of our suppliers and major customers in the food industry.

HDN stands for ‘Hygienic Design Network’ and is a collaborative partnership of companies in the food industry, ranging from component suppliers and system integrators to food manufacturers.

The goal of the HDN is to prevent problems during the production of food products at the end of the production line. This can only be achieved when the entire supply chain is involved.

The HDN method offers a uniform interpretation of standards and requirements, with a practical approach to compliance. Quality is guaranteed by a certification system for designers, engineers, welders and inspectors.

Our hygienic welders are HDN / PED certified. To become certified, welders must pass a theory and practical test, with all welds subject to X-ray testing in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). With their HDN certification they are allowed to weld hygienic and pressure systems.

For more information please visit the HDN website.

REACH and RoHs compliance

Goudsmit Magnetics supplies RoHs- and REACH-compliant magnets, magnet assemblies and magnet systems worldwide.

REACH (EC) No. 1907/2006

EU regulations on chemicals REACH (EC) No. 1907/2007. REACH is the EU regulation on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals for the purposes of risk management.

RoHs-3 Directive 2011/65/EU - (EU)2015/863

EU directive on the restriction of hazardous substances RoHs (EC) No. 2011/65/EU. The RoHs (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) is a European directive aimed at limiting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

EHEDG - Hygienic design

Goudsmit Magnetic Systems is a member of the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group - EHEDG.

EHEDG is a consortium of equipment manufacturers, food industries, research institutes and public health authorities and was founded in 1989 with as most important aim promoting hygiene during the processing and packing of foodstuffs and chemicals.

Improvement

Compliance with the criteria, standards and guidelines they have established, leads to improvement of hygienic engineering. Test methods they have developed determine whether a device has truly been designed properly.

In the interest of improving hygienic engineering, EHEDG has established a number of criteria and developed standards and directives that must be adhered to. EHEDG actively supports the European legislation, which requires that handling, preparation, processing and packaging of food be performed hygienically using hygienic machines and in hygienic areas.

Goudsmit bases its designs for foodstuffs and chemicals on these EHEDG standards and is the very first magnet supplier to join EHEDG.

Key focus areas of the EHEDG are:

  • prevention of growth of contaminants (harmful micro-organisms)
  • cleanability and disinfection
  • material use
  • surface finish and geometry
  • testing of the designs for cleaning, sterilization and microbial impermeability

Only companies that meet the established standards are eligible for the EHEDG certificate.

Directives and standards for hygienic design

To begin with, all machines must comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

Then there are additional standards that must be met for hygienic designs, of which the following two are the most important:

  1. NEN-EN-ISO 14159: Hygiene Requirements for the Design of Machinery
  2. NEN-EN 1672-2 Food Processing Machinery - Basic Concepts - Part 2: Hygiene Requirements

Process requirements

In addition to the standards for production/process equipment, there are production-related standards for producers of foodstuffs, such as:

  1. ISO 22000 (Food safety management systems - Requirements for any organization in the food chain)
  2. HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
  3. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)

Magnetic filters / separators can play an important role in the prevention of contamination (harmful micro-organisms).
